Description

The place is said to be the ashram of Guru Vashishth and the ashram had Nandi cow because of which the name of this place is also known as Nandigram.

This is believed to be the site where Bharat ji, the brother of Lord Rama did tapasya (deep meditation) for the return of Lord Rama from exile and ruled the kingdom of Kosala on Lord Rama’s behalf. It is presently a peaceful and serene place to spend some moments in tranquillity and practice meditation away from the chaos.

Bharat ji spent 14 years of his life here doing tapasya and waiting for Lord Rama to return. The vat vriksha from the treta yug is still in the premises.

The place also holds the premises of water from 27 teerth sthal and anyone going to Gaya first visit this place and then go to Gaya.

The vat vriksh is a symbol of love and you will be surprised to see that non of the roots come down and it automatically gets turned around the tree. Lord Rama once said that one who is in love with Bharat ji will never fall and this is why the vat vriksha's roots never comes down to the ground.

People also come here to perform the shraddh ceremony (prayers for departed ones) and also take a dip in the Kund.

Temple of Bharat ji and Lord Rama Janki's temple and Shiva Ji

Vat Vriksha

Once you visit the premises you can here the chanting of Sita-Ram that goes on for 24 hours.
